Introducing RealWorld Paint.COM
RealWorld Photos (to be released next week) is going to get a freeware sibling called RealWorld Paint.COM, a lightweight, easy-to-use, general purpose image editor with some notable features. Why Paint.COM? A combination of a word with a .xxx tl-domains seems to be trendy in this decade. And it is build upon COM technology.
List of features

- Image masks (selections) - create selections with various tools including Magic wand or Brush select. Apply functions like blur, grow, shrink, import or export to image mask.
- Layers - add, remove, duplicate, import, export layers. Assign effects to layers (for example have everything in a layer beveled).
- Opacity (alpha channel) - automatic alpha channel - it is there when you need it.
- Gradients and pattern fills - fill drawn shapes with custom gradients or assign a gradient overlay to a layer.
- Powerful drawing tools - modify last shape with control handles. Add/remove vertices to/from poly-lines and polygons by dragging and dropping a handles.
- Ps-compatible filters - the application is able to use image filters compatible with Adobe Photoshop.
- Scripting - create your own image filters in JavaScript. Make use of built-in filters and tools from within the script.

…and you might be pleasantly surprised. While the application looks simply, you will discover it goes deeper than an average freeware image editor after using it for a while. It is fast and responsive, capable of working with large images, it supports mouse gestures, can do gamma-aware blending, and that’s just the beginning.
And best of all: .net framework is NOT needed and the application is easily portable.
